I remember working with Garret at our local pub...

That's right, I go back some time with this couple. Garret is a chef and we met working together at Scran & Dram, a Scottish themed pub in New Hamburg Ontario.

Garret is one of the kindest souls and I remember fondly when he was saving up money to buy a ring to propose to Brooke. He would pick up extra hours, starting early and working late so that he could buy the perfect ring.

The day finally came when he was able to propose- and of course the answer was yes. Bringing us to their beautiful wedding day, October 13th of this year...a Friday of course!

As a photographer, I've had the privilege of documenting various weddings, each with its own unique charm and style. However, few events have resonated with such captivating allure as the Gothic Friday the 13th wedding held at the enchanting Cambridge Mill. The setting was nothing short of mesmerizing—a blend of eerie elegance and romantic mystique against the backdrop of the serene blue hour. From the moment we arrived, the air was charged with an otherworldly ambiance. Brooke, defying tradition in the most breathtaking manner, adorned a striking black wedding dress that exuded sophistication and mystery. Brooke completed the look with a cathedral length black veil, which her father placed in her hair during their first look together- before walking her down the aisle.

The Gothic architecture of the Cambridge Mill provided a striking contrast to the darkness of the evening, creating a surreal yet breathtakingly beautiful backdrop. The intricate details of the venue, combined with the dimly lit ambiance, lent an air of mystery entire affair. As a photographer, it was an absolute delight to play with light and shadows, capturing the essence of the moment and the uniqueness of the setting. The floor to ceiling windows of the pavilion allowing the evening autumn light to fall through evenly, and the beautiful chandeliers adding a touch of soft glow. This venue has been one of my favourite to shoot at so far.

As the ceremony unfolded

The couple chose to honor ancient traditions with a handfasting ceremony. The binding of their hands with intricate rope symbolized their union and commitment to each other. I always appreciate when a couple makes their wedding day more unique to them, and this wedding was no exception.

Don't be afraid of blue hour

Photographers often worship golden hour, and I am the same. It is the time of day where the golden light warms everything in its glow. However there is something to be said for blue hour. The water features that Cambridge Mill offers were important to capture for my bride and groom. As I look back at the images captured during the blue hour, I'm reminded of the sheer magic that unfolded that night—a night where the extraordinary met the ordinary, and love, in all its mysterious glory, took centre stage.

Accompanied by my amazing second shooter, Erin Dent Photography. We were able to capture all the intimate moments this day had to offer- Including a moment to celebrate a guests birthday!

Dancing the night away

You would never know that our bride had a broken foot and was wearing an air cast for the entire day. Shout out to our wonderful day of coordinator at the Mill, Evan (who also had a broken foot...? haha) together he and our bride had a working set of feet.
