Getting engaged is already such a special season, and your engagement session is the perfect chance to celebrate your story while also getting comfy in front of the camera. One of the first questions my couples ask is: Where should we do our photos?

Luckily, living in the Kitchener-Waterloo area means we’re surrounded by stunning spots for photos, from romantic gardens to nature trails and historic architecture. Here are a few of my favorite engagement photo locations in Waterloo, Stratford, Guelph, and Kitchener.

1. Waterloo Park (Waterloo, ON)

Waterloo Park is a classic for a reason, it has everything. Think winding trails, tall trees, open green fields, and even the beautiful Silver Lake as a backdrop. Depending on the season, you can get vibrant fall leaves, spring blossoms, or golden summer light.

📸 Best vibes: Golden hour by the lake or cozy strolls through the trails.

💡 Pro tip: Bring a picnic blanket or coffee for a more “date-like” vibe in your photos.

2. Shakespeare Gardens (Stratford, ON)

If you want romance and a touch of fairytale charm, Shakespeare Gardens in Stratford is a dream. With stone bridges, floral gardens, and the Avon River nearby, it feels intimate and timeless. Bonus: Stratford’s downtown is right there, so we can grab some photos by the cute shops or riverfront too.

📸 Best vibes: Whimsical, floral, romantic.

💡 Pro tip: Pair it with a stroll by the river or stop at a local café for candid, lifestyle-style photos.

3. The Arboretum at University of Guelph (Guelph, ON)

The Arboretum is a gem for nature-loving couples. With forest trails, open fields, and ornamental gardens, there’s so much variety in one location. It’s also big enough to feel private, which makes it perfect if you want your session to feel relaxed and cozy.

📸 Best vibes: Adventurous, outdoorsy, dreamy nature photos.

💡 Pro tip: Wear shoes you don’t mind walking in—there’s so much to explore!

This slept on gem in Kitchener is a floral paradise. Rockway Gardens has gorgeous landscaping, stone stairways, fountains, and so many little corners that photograph beautifully. It’s elegant and romantic, perfect if you’re imagining a more classic garden-style session.
