Emily & Luke’s Spring Wedding at Whistle Bear Golf Club
This past weekend felt like spring said, “Okay, fine. I’ll show off.” Not a single cloud in the sky, sunshine pouring over the greens, and the kind of warmth that makes everyone linger a little longer outside. Emily and Luke truly could not have picked a more perfect day for their wedding at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge, Ontario.
If I had to describe Emily and Luke in a few words: sweet, kind, calm, and fully present. They’re the kind of couple that just trusts the process. No stress, no chaos. Just “we’re getting married and we’re so excited about it.”
Luke wore a dark green suit, and his groomsmen were in light beige. Such a clean, fresh palette for a sunny outdoor wedding. Emily wore a classic, form-fitting gown that felt timeless and elegant. And her veil? Long, detailed with pearls, catching the sunlight in the prettiest way.
They chose to do a first look, just the two of them, tucked away before the ceremony. These are always some of my favourite moments to capture. Quiet, real, no audience. Just that deep breath of “it’s actually happening.”
A Garden Chapel Ceremony at Whistle Bear
Their ceremony took place outside at the Garden Chapel at Whistle Bear, and it was the definition of a classic spring wedding in Cambridge. Light pastel florals mixed with white lined the space. And here’s the part I love: they did the flowers themselves.
There’s something so special about couples pouring that kind of intention into their day. The arrangements were soft, romantic, and perfectly complemented the bridesmaids’ mismatched dresses. Different pastel shades, florals, and styles that somehow all worked together effortlessly. It felt curated but relaxed. Elevated but not too much.
Their dog Banjo was the ring bearer (as he should be), and yes, he absolutely stole the show. They even used photos of him for their table numbers at the reception. We support it.
The reception was held in the Forestview Room, which has one of my favourite features at Whistle Bear, that big balcony overlooking the green. On a sunny day like this, it’s unreal. Guests were flowing in and out, soaking up the view, drinks in hand, spring air doing its thing.
The speeches were such a standout. Emily’s brother and sister gave a joint speech that had the whole room emotional. They held hands the entire time while speaking, which somehow made it even more heartfelt. You could feel how deeply loved Emily and Luke are.
And then… the party era began.
Emily changed into a short white satin dress, white Converse, white sunglasses, and a white cowboy hat with sparkle tassels. Iconic.
The dance floor was packed all night. Zero hesitation. Zero holding back. Just pure joy. Exactly the energy you want at a wedding reception.
Working with the Whistle Bear Team
We had Riley as our coordinator for the day at Whistle Bear, and she was incredible. Truly so on it from start to finish. Everything ran smoothly, timelines stayed on track without ever feeling rushed, and she handled the behind-the-scenes details so Emily and Luke could just be present. As a wedding photographer in the Waterloo Region, working alongside a coordinator who’s that organized makes such a difference.
Why I Love Spring Weddings at Whistle Bear:
Whistle Bear Golf Club is such a stunning wedding venue in Cambridge, especially in the spring when everything is bright green and glowing. Between the Garden Chapel, the Forestview Room, and those sunset views over the course, it gives couples so much variety for their wedding day.
But what really made this day special wasn’t just the sunshine or the venue. It was how fully Emily and Luke leaned into it. They weren’t performing. They weren’t stressed about perfection. They were just… there. Together. Laughing, hugging their people, dancing their faces off.
And that’s always the sweet spot.
Emily and Luke, thank you for trusting me to capture it all. Your day was the best kind of spring energy: light, joyful, and completely you. 🌿✨
